On June 21st, Paris will be filled with Brazilian sounds: it’s the Festa da Música Brasileira (Brazilian Music Party), which is part of an event organized by the City Hall of the French capital to celebrate the popular music of various countries. The Associação Cultural Jangada, an association that promotes Brazilian culture in France, was in charge of choosing this year’s four distinct attractions. Carlos Elias (one of Portela samba school composers) will show the French the typical carioca samba; the duo Dois de Ouro recovers the best of chorinho; from Piauí, the band Caminho will play northeastern rhythms such as forró and maracatú; and Sonic Junior mixes rock, electronica, pop and regional rhythms.
