Caetano Veloso won’t rest. Even with the dropping popularity of the funk made in Rio, the singer decided to include lines from the funk hit Tapinha on his new concert, Noites do Norte, which kicked off on June 9th in Rio de Janeiro. Some people didn’t like it, though. Part of the crowd started booing, provoking Caetano’s humorous reply: "Is this disapproval coming from the Senate’s Ethic Commission? I can’t sing the funk if I want to? Tapinha is great!"
The repertoire of the concert is based on the homonym album, with arrangements emphasizing Jacques Morelembaum’s cello and the percussion. The set list also includes his vintage hits (Leãozinho, Tigreza, Dom de Iludir) and some forgotten delicacies (such as Araçá Azul ). The mega-hit Sozinho wasn’t left out - it’s the last song of the encore.
