Before bossa nova became a brand name, the modifications introduced in the samba had other experimental tags. Songwriter Carlos Lyra created one of them, Sambalanço, which should be the name of his new CD, recorded for the Japanese market. Displeased with final result, Lyra bought the master tape and is remixing everything, while negotiating with record companies to release it again, soon.

Sambalanço features classics that refresh the memory and attract the fans (Lobo Bobo, Canção que Morre no Ar, Saudade Fez um Samba, A Minha Namorada, Maria Moita, Você e Eu, Mas Também Quem Mandou, Coisa Mais Linda), appearing side by side with new songs like Se Quiseres Chorar, O Barco e a Vela, Os Olhos da Madrugada, Só Choro Quando Estou Feliz and Um Abraço no João.
