Cascão is Mano Brown's new protégé

A new artist has been rocking the rap scene in São Paulo: Cascão is a former inmate and leader of the group Trilha Sonora do Gueto (The Soundtrack of the Ghetto). He has become Mano Brown's (Racionais MCs vocalist and main writer) protégé and writes lyrics that are furious enough to give the other rappers the creeps. "He's a phenomenon. He writes frantically, and the poetry is excellent", praises the writer Reginaldo Ferréz, author of the book Capão Pecado, on the routine of one of the most violent boroughs in São Paulo. Upon Mano Brown's request, Ferréz is editing Cascão's autobiography, Virando as Páginas da Vida, a report on the seven years that he spent in jail. Just like the leader of Racionais MCs, Cascão isn't keen on interviews, and hasn't been seen around the city of São Paulo, lately. "He's a great composer, but he's also quite nutty", says Ferréz. Cascão has participated in the opening track (Vida Lôka) on Racionais' upcoming disc. His own solo debut will be released soon, produced by Mano Brown, of course.
