Jarbas Mariz, who performed with Tom Zé for 8 years and recently recorded with electronic group M4J, puts out his fourth solo album, Forró do Gogó ao Mocotó, on the label Atração Fonográfica. The album is a homage to Jackson do Pandeiro, with whom the guitarist toured around Brazil in 1980. The repertoire includes classics by the rhythm master, such as Chiclete com Banana (Gordurinha/Almira Castilho), Como Tem Zé na Paraíba (Manezinho Araújo/Catulo de Paula), Cantiga do Sapo (Jackson/Buco do Pandeiro) and Samba do Ziriguidum (Jadir de Castro/Luiz Bittencourt). Guest appearances range from Bocato (trombone) and Marcos Suzano (percussion) to singer Chico César and the band Mestre Ambrósio.
