As Frenéticas, a vocal group lined-up by producer Nelson Motta in the ‘70s, is making a comeback. The concert 2o Tempo kicks off on June 1st with (now) veteran singers Lidoka, Edyr de Castro and Dudu Moraes, who have switched their names to Lidia Lagys, Edyr Duqui and Dhu Moraes, respectively. Formerly a six-piece group, As Frenéticas count on two new vocalists: Cláudia Borioni and Patrícia Boechat.
It was Lidoka's idea to start it all over again. She admits that ever since the compilation Sempre Frenéticas came out in 1998, the will to make a comeback stuck to her mind. "I was in São Paulo and started to observe how people would refer to the group in the present tense: it was like ‘I love Frenéticas’, or ‘I am your fan’. But what moved me was the fact that younger people knew our songs", she says.
Lídia then proceeded to call up her old friends, but original members Regina, Sandra and Leiloca were involved in other projects and did not agree to participate. "I was a bit turned off, but I called Edyr and Dudu and they agreed. So we started looking for singers/actresses, so that the spirit of the group could be revived", she explains, referring to Cláudia and Patrícia.
The two new Frenéticas were dragged into a rehearsal routine so as to adapt to the repertoire. They swear that it was easy. "Nobody has replaced them in two decades. The group Mamonas Assassinas came close. And we used to be Frenéticas fans", Cláudia claims.
Old hits like Perigosa, Vingativa, Dancin'Days, A Felicidade Bate à Sua Porta and O Preto que Satisfaz will appear side by side with new songs like Rap do Real (Pedro Luís), Larga Esse Controle (Nicolau & Os Copérnicos) and Copacabana (Gabriel Moura), as well as Mamonas Asssassina’s big hit, Pelados em Santos.
