After trying a style different from hers, more popular - she recorded a CD with Altay Velloso songs 30'' excerpts -, Leny Andrade goes back to bossa nova. "I'm making the album on Ronaldo Bôscoli, with strings, trumpet and trombone", the singer says. The disc represents her return to the label Albatroz (owned by Roberto Menescal), which released her next-to-last album, Bossas Novas 30'' excerpts , in 1998. Scheduled for August, the CD shall feature Bôscoli classics like Rio, O Barquinho, Canção que Morre no Ar, Fim de Noite, Você, Lobo Bobo, Telefone and Nós e o Mar.

"Ronaldo Bôscoli wrote countless songs with Carlos Lyra and Menescal. The most obscure one that I've picked is Copacabana de Sempre, where they prove their love of Copacabana", she says. Leny's album will have 12 tracks and guests like Gilson Peranzzetta (piano), Nema Antunes (bass), Márcio Bahia (drums), Bôscoli and Menescal. The singer also expects to have Márcio Montarroyos, Serginho Trombone and Paulinho Trompete on the brass section. Besides international tours (she'll perform in Switzerland, Italy and Portugal in September), she'll be presenting her new repertoire in May in Rio.

Auditory mockery
Leny gets restless only when it comes to the music aired on radio stations, such as the funk made in Rio. She grows radical when the subject is the quality standard of her music. "At age 58, I'm more like [comedian] Dercy Gonçalves. If you want to relate to what I do, that's fine. If not, f... it (laughs). I just can't listen to this s...! It's like mockery. When I recently saw Joyce's concert with João Donato, I told her: 'Some guts!' And she answered: 'That's how it's got to be, Leny, face the microphone and sing!', And that's what we do. Because all the things behind the music don't have anything to do with the music itself", she teaches.
