The song Nascente, written by Flavio Venturini and Murilo Antunes, has just gotten an instrumental version made by some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world. The song is featured on saxophonist Michael Bracker's album, Nearness of You - The Ballad Book, which should come out in July, in the USA. Besides Bracker (tenor sax), the track features Herbie Hancock (piano), Charlie Haden (bass), Jack DeJohnette (drums) and Pat Matheny (guitar and also the producer of the album). "I had always loved Flavio's song, not just from the Milton record [Clube da Esquina 2] but from his own version as well, and had always wanted to do a version of it and this was perfect. We expanded it a fair amount to make it more open for the kind of improvisation that we all love to do, and it works great in that way too.", Matheny told AllBrazilianMusic.
