Japanese producer Katsunori Tanaka - who has made Mangueira and Portela albums - is arriving in Brazil by the end of the month to work on Monarco's upcoming CD, Uma História do Samba. Ten years after the release of his last solo album, the singer and songwriter who leads Velha Guarda da Portela (Portela Old School group) intends to reunite the same specialists who participated in A Voz do Samba 30'' excerpts , recorded in 1991 and released in 1992: Paulão 7 Cordas, Henrique Cazes, Beto Cazes, Mauro Diniz and the female vocalists, as pastoras da Portela. The repertoire shall feature previously unreleased Monarco sambas plus Isto É Bom (Xisto Bahia), Rir (Noel Rosa and Cartola), Sorrindo Sempre (Noel Rosa, Ismael Silva and Gradim da Mangueira), Divina Dama (Cartola) and A Vida do Vagabundo, a rare samba written by Alcides Malandro Histórico da Portela. The album is being made by appointment to World Sounds collection, on the Japanese label JVC.
