On vacation, rock band Barão Vermelho becomes instrumental

It is not very usual that a band, momentarily deprived of the vocalist, should decide to review their own songs on an instrumental shape. That is how Guto Goffi (drums), Rodrigo Santos (bass) and Fernando Magalhães (guitar) chose to fill in Barão Vermelho's vacation (from January to March). Last weekend in Rio de Janeiro, the trio proved to have what it takes to generate interest on the new appraoch without a front person while presenting alternative versions of Barão's b-sides.

On the first chords of Cidade Fria (from the 1992 album Supermercados da Vida), the tight punch recalled the likes of Cream. On Meus Bons Amigos (from the 1994 disc Carne Crua), Rodrigo performed a convincing solo on his bass guitar. Groovy moments followed with O Que Você Faz à Noite, Carnaval (both from the 1988 LP Carnaval, one of the best Barão Vermelho albums ever), the blues Quem Me Olha Só (from the 1987 album Rock'n Geral) and Beijos de Arame Farpado (from the 1990 disc Na Calada da Noite, with a soft Santana feel), among others.
