Pernambuco-born Otto, the percussionist who made the acclaimed Brazilian electronica album Samba Pra Burro (1998), is going to Bahia before starting to work on his next CD, Condom Black (a pun on the word candomblé, which is an African-Brazilian religion). The musician is in Salvador (capital of Bahia), preparing a tribute to French photographer Pierre Verger (who spent many years between Africa and Bahia) and to African saints. In May, Otto will be back in Bahia to play the Panorama Percussivo Mundial (Percpan), a festival produced by Gilberto Gil and Naná Vasconcelos.
