Paulo Miklos: can't always be happy

In his second solo album, the Titãs member goes for acoustic sounds and heavy interpretations

"The best poetry comes from the pain, and that's something one can't fake", says Titãs member Paulo Miklos, on a conversation that illustrates what his second solo album, Vou Ser Feliz e Já Volto ouvir 30s, released this week on Abril Music, is about. Switching beteen the tenderness of Sinos Entre os Anjos, the anti-romanticism of Orgia and the depth of Lâmina de Vidro, the main theme in Vou Ser Feliz... is the pursuit of happiness.

An experienced musician, in the business for over 20 years, Paulo Miklos compares his latest release to the previous one, Paulo Miklos ouvir 30s, from 1994. "That one was a true solo - I produced, played, picked the musicians, booked the studio... This time I was free to worry about other stuff - work on the lyrics, if I was singing properly. It wasn't a solo, just an album", he explains.

All of the tracks on Vou... were written by Miklos (Sem Amor, co-written with former Titã Arnaldo Antunes), except for O Milagre do Ladrão (Léo Canhoto and Zilo). Completing the package that includes Nando Reis' (Titãs bassist) second solo release (Para Quando o Arco-Íris Encontrar o Pote de Ouro ouvir 30s) and Sérgio Britto's (Titãs keyboardist) first solo (A Minha Cara ouvir 30s), Paulo Miklos sees his albums as experiences turned into positive results for the band Titãs. "It is great. The worst thing is to overestimate oneself", he says. While the band won't get together to prepare the next disc, he goes out on a solo tour. "I'll satisfy my needs", he jokes. In his shows, Miklos sings and plays the guitar, accompanied by an all-girl band: Geórgia Branco (guitar), Lelena Anhaia (bass) and Simone Soul (drums).
