ROCK CITY, 8:30 p.m. – Displaying her usual energy and dressed up in black, Fernanda Abreu commanded the party from the World Stage. As the evening fell, bringing down the excessively high temperature, Fernanda started out with songs from her latest album, Entidade Urbana: Sou da Cidade and Baile da Pesada. After stating that "Everybody in Rio enjoys dancing", she initiated a series of hits with Garota Sangue Bom, Kátia Flávia, Jorge Ben Jor’s Jorge da Capadócia, Brasil É o País do Suingue. The highlight happened when Evandro Mesquita joined her to do Você Não Soube Me Amar, a mega hit that the both had performed at the first Rock In Rio edition, in 1985, with their band Blitz. The crowd roared. She went on with more hits, Veneno da Lata, Rio 40 Graus, and finished with a medley of funk made in Rio, using bits of songs from bands like O Rappa and Planet Hemp. Even though the audience was hungry for rock, everybody danced along with Fernanda Abreu.
