Rock in Rio: Nascimento gets the World Stage going

ROCK CITY, 21h30 – The shows at the World Stage (Palco Mundo), the main stage at the Rock In Rio festival, began with the theme of the movie 2001 – A Space Oddity blasting the P.A. along with the AfroReggae drums. A 6 year-old girl banged on the bell made out of cast ammunition. The Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira took the stage to play a medley of rock tunes from various places and different times. Milton Nascimento and Gilberto Gil joined in to perform John Lennon`s Imagine. With a delay of 40 minutes, shortly before 8, Milton started out his show with plenty of hits to warm up the crowd: Fé Cega Faca Amolada, Maria Maria, Caçador de Mim, Bares da Vida, Cravo e Canela, Certas Coisas. Milton requested Gil`s presence and the both did Calix Bento, Andar com Fé and Sebastián.
