Rock In Rio: Sandy & Junior meet the expectation

The audience was mostly comprised of adolescents (200 thousand people, according to the organizers) who got what they wanted from the biggest local act of the teen night at Rock In Rio. Sticking to the script, the duo Sandy & Junior played all of the hits that turned them into one of the best record sellers in the country (bigger than some of the international artists that played after them). The offspring of Brazilian country singer Xororó prepared a special version of their current tour concert As Quatro Estações. Worn out choreography and instrumental parts that sound like cigarette ads, that’s what they offered throughout 14 songs. Some of them have been written especially for the sister and brother, such as Vamo Pulá, the funk Dig Dig Joy (including a rap bit and Junior playing the drums), A Lenda and As Quatro Estações. The other songs were versions of international hits (such as Imortal, from Celine Dion’s Imortality, and No Fundo do Coração, originally Truly, Madly, Deeply, by Savage Garden) and local ones. Junior took chances by attempting to sing Santana’s Smooth in English. His sister executed a version of My Heart Will Go On (another Celine Dion smash) using the introduction for Elis Regina’s big hit Fascinação. All in all, it was harmless groove and moralist romanticism.
