ROCK CITY, 10:40 p.m. – It’s a fact. At least concerning the public, the Rock In Rio festival is a big hit and countless souls overcrowded the Rock City this Sunday. At least inside the Brazil Tent, The Silvas was one of the bands that best portrayed the spirit of the fest. The lineup features top stars like João Barone (drums, from Paralamas), Liminha (guitar, former bassist for Mutantes) and Nenê (bassist for the legendary early rock group Os Incríveis). The band played a thrilling surf music set, their covers ranging from The Ventures to the local The Jet Blacks. A small crowd relished with the vibrating guest appearances of Planet Hemp vocalist Marcelo D2 – performing a surf version of Planet’s hit Queimando Tudo - and Titãs vocalist Branco Mello (performing two Titãs hits, Flores and Lugar Nenhum). The Silvas played an effective set and closed one more night at the Brazil Tent in high gear.
