The muse of the new music in Pernambuco, Dona Selma do Coco, will take her coco de roda to North America. She is going to be the main Brazilian act to perform at the 32nd New Orleans Heritage Festival - April 27th through May 6th. The duo Chiko Queiroga & Antonio Rogério and guitarist Riccardo Crespo are other Brazilian artists that will play the festival.

The interest rasied by Brazilian music in New Orleans is also testified by Casa de Samba, a small samba school drum section, basically comprised of North-Americans, who play the Heritage every year. In 2000, when the event had its record public (514 thousand people), Brazil was represented by Hermeto Pascoal, Chico César, Carlos Malta & Pife Muderno, Ilê Ayiê, Cascabulho and Maracatu Nação Pernambuco.
