Luiz Gonzaga do Nascimento Jr. delivered the goods through the music and was not afraid of anything, regardless of his frail look - a skinny body, almost like Chico Buarque’s description in the lyrics of Partido Alto: "skin and bones, that’s all, almost nothing in between". With his strong lyrics about politics, love or hope, Gonzaguinha did it his way in MPB and is missed to this day.

On Sunday, it is going to be 10 years since he got killed in a road accident. Gonzaguinha was driving to Foz do Iguaçu, where he was going to take a plane to Florianópolis (Santa Catarina state) for a series of six concerts. Only fate could take away the voice that wouldn’t shut up for anything - as a father, friend, worker and artist. On statements to AllBrazilianMusic, artists, friends, collaborators and family members remember Gonzaguinha. In June, the composer’s children will do homage to their dad on a concert.
