Uakti performs Phillip Glass on CD

The group Uakti, from Minas Gerais, releases the album Águas da Amazônia in the Brazilian market through their own label (sold only by e-mail uakti@metalink.com.br or phone 55-31-291-4641). The CD was released in the USA four years ago. It contains nine pieces written in 1994 by contemporary composer Phillip Glass, for a dance number by Grupo Corpo. Marco Antônio Guimarães, Uakti’s leader, adapted Glass’ songs for the group’s peculiar instrumentation, and Glass wrote another piece especially for the album (Águas da Amazônia).
